I amĀ Shauna Leigh Shepherd
After being an integrative counselor for over a decade, the concept of Metamorphosis Psychology came to me after being in COVID-19 lockdown and evacuating our home as a wildfire destroyed an entire city, after giving birth to my first child. This book and online courses are from the the humble teaching on what has helped me go through some of the most painful and spiritual growth periods that I have encountered in my lifetime. While the Zen student had a swift jolt to the head with a stick by an unforgiving relentless Zen teacher, I have been brought to my knees by a tiny toddler who jolts me into being present at every request for snacks, potty breaks, or loving affection.Ā
At first, I cursed the whole Karmic situation but later saw it as the cosmic crucible where stars are born ā€“ the metamorphosis of turning base consciousness into gold.
From Carl Jung to Ken Wilber, transformational consciousness has been explored through the metaphoric alchemy process of turning a base metal into gold here on earth. Alchemy has long been the spiritual metaphor for the psycheā€™s evolution into self-realization in psychology.
Though many breakthroughs in the field of psychology and the human psyche have been made through this spiritual archetype of the alchemist, I call upon a new theory of psychology that speaks to our transformational times based on nuclear fusion of how stars collide in space to create gold and the changes in consciousness I have witnessed with myself and my clients.
Therapy has changed. The earth that we currently are entrusted with is also rapidly changing.
Ā Just as gold is created under intense pressure, gravitational collapse, and heat of the cosmos, our consciousness evolves through the metamorphosis of life experiences, challenges, and awareness of consciousness. My hope with this concept is to be a guide through these transformative times and to also create the necessary environment to lovingly support your journey to expanded awareness and connection with all beings. All yes, including snacks, potty breaks, and loving affection.
